DPP Planning are preparing to submit a planning application on behalf of Kier Construction and the Department for Education (DfE) for the construction of a new 2-storey teaching block together with replacement of the existing Multi Use Games Area (MUGA) and refurbishment works to he existing block at Trinity Academy, Queensbury, Bradford, BD13 2AS.

Undertaking public consultation with local residents in advance of submitting a planning application is an important part of the process for Kier Construction and the DfE by allowing members of the public and the local community to engage with the vision for the site and to provide valuable feedback in relation to the proposals.

The site

The site is located on Deanstones Lane in Queensbury and covers an area of approximately 3.42ha presently within the campus of Trinity Academy. An aerial image with the site outlined in red is provided on this page. The area outlined in red to the south of the school will be used as parking during the constructions stages of development.

The Proposal

The proposed development seeks the construction of a new 2-storey teaching block to the centre of the site and parallel to one of the main school buildings (known as block B) which is to be retained. This is to replace the existing two blocks which currently lie to the north of the site as shown on the proposed site plan.

Upon completion of the new build, the existing complex of school buildings in the northern part of the school site will be demolished. The new MUGA and an additional grass pitch area will then be built on the site of the former school buildings.

In terms of landscaping, existing trees on the sites boundaries will be retained and enhanced where possible. A hard and soft landscaping scheme will enhance the site to create an attractive environment for pupils, staff and visitors.

The proposed school building does not result in an increase in pupil capacity, with the school site retaining the same number of pupils.

The application is needed as the school buildings are in a poor state of repair which is prohibiting the school from using some classrooms and causing issues with the main facilities (such as the dining and sports hall).
